Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install statnews on Kali Linux.
What is statnews
statnews is:
This program may be useful to analyze newsgroups or mailing lists with
respect to authors, messages length and frequency, and so on.
At this moment, it operates on local spools only (it has neither NNTP nor
HTTP capabilities); the spool has to store one message per file in
traditional mbox format.
There are three methods to install statnews on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install statnews Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install statnews using apt-get by running the following command:

After updating apt database, We can install statnews using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install statnews using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install statnews
How To Uninstall statnews on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the statnews package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove statnews
Uninstall statnews And Its Dependencies
To uninstall statnews and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove statnews
Remove statnews Configurations and Data
To remove statnews configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge statnews
Remove statnews configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove statnews configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge statnews
