Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install strip-nondeterminism on Kali Linux.
What is strip-nondeterminism
strip-nondeterminism is:
StripNondeterminism is a library for stripping non-deterministic information
such as timestamps and filesystem ordering from various file and archive
formats.
This can be used as a post-processing step to improve the reproducibility of a
build product, when the build process itself cannot be made deterministic.
It is used as part of the Reproducible Builds project, although it should be
considered a temporary workaround which should not be needed in the long
term; upstream software should be reproducible even without using such a tool.
This package installs the stand-alone ??strip-nondeterminism?? tool.
There are three methods to install strip-nondeterminism on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install strip-nondeterminism Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install strip-nondeterminism using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install strip-nondeterminismInstall strip-nondeterminism Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install strip-nondeterminism using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install strip-nondeterminismInstall strip-nondeterminism Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install strip-nondeterminism using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install strip-nondeterminism
How To Uninstall strip-nondeterminism on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the strip-nondeterminism package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove strip-nondeterminism
Uninstall strip-nondeterminism And Its Dependencies
To uninstall strip-nondeterminism and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove strip-nondeterminism
Remove strip-nondeterminism Configurations and Data
To remove strip-nondeterminism configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge strip-nondeterminism
Remove strip-nondeterminism configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove strip-nondeterminism configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge strip-nondeterminism
