Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install stubby on Kali Linux.
What is stubby
stubby is:
getdns is a modern asynchronous DNS API. It implements DNS entry
points from a design developed and vetted by application developers,
in an API specification edited by Paul Hoffman. This API intends to
offer application developers a modernized and flexible way to access
DNS security (DNSSEC) and other powerful new DNS features; a
particular hope is to inspire application developers towards
innovative security solutions in their applications.
This package contains stubby daemon – the DNS Privacy Stub Resolver.
There are three methods to install stubby on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install stubby Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install stubby using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install stubbyInstall stubby Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install stubby using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install stubbyInstall stubby Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install stubby using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install stubby
How To Uninstall stubby on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the stubby package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove stubby
Uninstall stubby And Its Dependencies
To uninstall stubby and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove stubby
Remove stubby Configurations and Data
To remove stubby configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge stubby
Remove stubby configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove stubby configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge stubby
