Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sunclock-maps on Kali Linux.
What is sunclock-maps
sunclock-maps is:
sunclock is an X11 application that displays a map of the Earth and
indicates the illuminated portion of the globe by drawing sunlit
areas dark on light, night areas as light on dark. In addition to
providing local time for the default timezone, it also displays GMT
time, legal and solar time of major cities, their latitude and
longitude, and the mutual distances of arbitrary locations on Earth.
This package contains the vector graphic earthmaps.
There are three methods to install sunclock-maps on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sunclock-maps Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sunclock-maps using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sunclock-mapsInstall sunclock-maps Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sunclock-maps using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sunclock-mapsInstall sunclock-maps Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sunclock-maps using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sunclock-maps
How To Uninstall sunclock-maps on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the sunclock-maps package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sunclock-maps
Uninstall sunclock-maps And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sunclock-maps and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sunclock-maps
Remove sunclock-maps Configurations and Data
To remove sunclock-maps configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sunclock-maps
Remove sunclock-maps configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sunclock-maps configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sunclock-maps
