Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sunxi-tools on Kali Linux.
What is sunxi-tools
sunxi-tools is:
This package contains various tools for working with devices based around the
Allwinner sunxi processors (A10/A13/A20/A31 etc). Utilities include tools to:
- interact with the processors’ lowlevel bootrom (AKA FEL mode).
- boot over the USB OTG port.
- compile and decompile the Allwinner binary hardware descriptions (FEX
files). - display information about sunxi boot headers.
There are three methods to install sunxi-tools on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sunxi-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sunxi-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sunxi-toolsInstall sunxi-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sunxi-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sunxi-toolsInstall sunxi-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sunxi-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sunxi-tools
How To Uninstall sunxi-tools on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the sunxi-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sunxi-tools
Uninstall sunxi-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sunxi-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sunxi-tools
Remove sunxi-tools Configurations and Data
To remove sunxi-tools configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sunxi-tools
Remove sunxi-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sunxi-tools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sunxi-tools
