Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install svn2git on Kali Linux.
What is svn2git
svn2git is:
Svn2git is a tiny utility for migrating projects from Subversion to Git
while keeping the trunk, branches and tags where they should be. It uses
git-svn to clone an svn repository and does some clean-up to make sure
branches and tags are imported in a meaningful way, and that the code
checked into master ends up being what’s currently in your svn trunk
rather than whichever svn branch your last commit was in.
There are three methods to install svn2git on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install svn2git Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install svn2git using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install svn2gitInstall svn2git Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install svn2git using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install svn2gitInstall svn2git Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install svn2git using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install svn2git
How To Uninstall svn2git on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the svn2git package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove svn2git
Uninstall svn2git And Its Dependencies
To uninstall svn2git and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove svn2git
Remove svn2git Configurations and Data
To remove svn2git configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge svn2git
Remove svn2git configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove svn2git configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge svn2git
