Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install kopano-presence on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is kopano-presence
kopano-presence is:
A daemon for collecting and exporting user presence information across
multiple protocols in a unified way.
Supports XMPP and Spreed. Clients can both query the daemon with presence
information (for example, the user is ‘available’ for XMPP and ‘away’ for
Spreed) and update presence information (for example, make a user ‘available’
on Spreed). Queries and updates are performed with simple GET and PUT
requests, respectively, using a simple (and identical) JSON format.
There are three methods to install kopano-presence on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install kopano-presence Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install kopano-presence using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install kopano-presence
Install kopano-presence Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install kopano-presence using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install kopano-presence
Install kopano-presence Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install kopano-presence using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install kopano-presence
How To Uninstall kopano-presence on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the kopano-presence package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove kopano-presence
Uninstall kopano-presence And Its Dependencies
To uninstall kopano-presence and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove kopano-presence
Remove kopano-presence Configurations and Data
To remove kopano-presence configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge kopano-presence
Remove kopano-presence configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove kopano-presence configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge kopano-presence
