Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install aewm++
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is aewm++
aewm++ is:
aewm++ is a minimal window manager for X11, based on aewm. It keeps aewm’s
minimalist look and feel but is written in C++, and adds some modern features
like virtual desktops. GNOME EWMH hints have been removed in this release,
because upstream wants to focus on making the code stable and minimalistic.
This package used to include appbar, aewm++_fspanel, setrootimage and
aewm++_xsession; these can now be found in the aewm++-goodies package.
There are three methods to install aewm++
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install aewm++ Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install aewm++
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install aewm++
Install aewm++ Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install aewm++
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install aewm++
Install aewm++ Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install aewm++
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install aewm++
How To Uninstall aewm++ on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the aewm++
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove aewm++
Uninstall aewm++ And Its Dependencies
To uninstall aewm++
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove aewm++
Remove aewm++ Configurations and Data
To remove aewm++
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge aewm++
Remove aewm++ configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove aewm++
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge aewm++
