Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install algotutor on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is algotutor
algotutor is:
algotutor is an interactive program for observing the intermediate
steps of algorithms (“algorithm animationâ€). The target audience is
computer science students and/or anyone who studies algorithms and/or
data structures. One can create data files in plain text format
(actually perl anonymous hashes, but one need not care) and let
algotutor runs through some predefined algorithm. Then one can step
backward and forward through the execution sequence of the algorithm
at different levels of details.
There are three methods to install algotutor on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install algotutor Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install algotutor using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install algotutor
Install algotutor Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install algotutor using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install algotutor
Install algotutor Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install algotutor using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install algotutor
How To Uninstall algotutor on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the algotutor package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove algotutor
Uninstall algotutor And Its Dependencies
To uninstall algotutor and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove algotutor
Remove algotutor Configurations and Data
To remove algotutor configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge algotutor
Remove algotutor configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove algotutor configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge algotutor
