Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libfrobby-dev on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is libfrobby-dev
libfrobby-dev is:
Frobby is a software system and project for computations with monomial ideals.
Frobby is free software and it is intended as a vehicle for computational and
mathematical research on monomial ideals.
The current functionality includes Euler characteristic, Hilbert series,
maximal standard monomials, combinatorial optimization on monomial ideals,
primary decomposition, irreducible decomposition, Alexander dual, associated
primes, minimization and intersection of monomial ideals as well as the
computation of Frobenius problems (using 4ti2) with very large numbers. Frobby
is also able to translate between formats that can be used with several
different computer systems, such as Macaulay 2, Monos, 4ti2, CoCoA4 and
Singular. Thus Frobby can be used with any of those systems.
This package contains the development tools.
There are three methods to install libfrobby-dev on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libfrobby-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libfrobby-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libfrobby-dev
Install libfrobby-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libfrobby-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libfrobby-dev
Install libfrobby-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libfrobby-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libfrobby-dev
How To Uninstall libfrobby-dev on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libfrobby-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libfrobby-dev
Uninstall libfrobby-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libfrobby-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libfrobby-dev
Remove libfrobby-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libfrobby-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libfrobby-dev
Remove libfrobby-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libfrobby-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libfrobby-dev
