Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libftdi1 on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is libftdi1
libftdi1 is:
This library could talk to FTDI’s FT232 and FT245 type USB chips from
userspace. It uses libusb to communicate with the chips.
Functionalities include the possibility to use the chips in standard
mode, in bitbang mode, and to read or write the serial EEPROM.
This is the C version of the library.
There are three methods to install libftdi1 on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libftdi1 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libftdi1 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libftdi1
Install libftdi1 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libftdi1 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libftdi1
Install libftdi1 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libftdi1 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libftdi1
How To Uninstall libftdi1 on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libftdi1 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libftdi1
Uninstall libftdi1 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libftdi1 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libftdi1
Remove libftdi1 Configurations and Data
To remove libftdi1 configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libftdi1
Remove libftdi1 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libftdi1 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libftdi1
