What is libgdal-perl

libgdal-perl is:

GDAL is a translator library for raster geospatial data formats.
As a library, it presents a single abstract data model to the
calling application for all supported formats. The related OGR
library (which lives within the GDAL source tree) provides
a similar capability for simple features vector data.

GDAL supports 40+ popular data formats, including commonly used
ones (GeoTIFF, JPEG, PNG and more) as well as the ones used in
GIS and remote sensing software packages (ERDAS Imagine,
ESRI Arc/Info, ENVI, PCI Geomatics). Also supported many remote
sensing and scientific data distribution formats such as HDF,
EOS FAST, NOAA L1B, NetCDF, FITS.

OGR library supports popular vector formats like ESRI Shapefile,
TIGER data, S57, MapInfo File, DGN, GML and more.

This package contains Perl bindings for the GDAL/OGR library.

There are three methods to install libgdal-perl on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libgdal-perl Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

Install libgdal-perl Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libgdal-perl using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libgdal-perl

How To Uninstall libgdal-perl on Ubuntu 22.04

To uninstall only the libgdal-perl package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libgdal-perl

Uninstall libgdal-perl And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libgdal-perl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgdal-perl

Remove libgdal-perl Configurations and Data

To remove libgdal-perl configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libgdal-perl

Remove libgdal-perl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libgdal-perl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libgdal-perl
