Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libgeoip2-perl
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is libgeoip2-perl
libgeoip2-perl is:
GeoIP2 provides an API to version 2 of MaxMinds high-precision IP geo-
location web services and databases. It also works with the free and
downloadable GeoLite2 databases. This is the Perl implementation of
this API.
For up to 100x faster database access make sure the recommended
libmaxmind-db-reader-xs-perl package is installed as well.
There are three methods to install libgeoip2-perl
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libgeoip2-perl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libgeoip2-perl
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libgeoip2-perl
Install libgeoip2-perl Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libgeoip2-perl
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libgeoip2-perl
Install libgeoip2-perl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libgeoip2-perl
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libgeoip2-perl
How To Uninstall libgeoip2-perl on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libgeoip2-perl
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libgeoip2-perl
Uninstall libgeoip2-perl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libgeoip2-perl
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgeoip2-perl
Remove libgeoip2-perl Configurations and Data
To remove libgeoip2-perl
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libgeoip2-perl
Remove libgeoip2-perl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libgeoip2-perl
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libgeoip2-perl
