Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install android-sdk
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is android-sdk
android-sdk is:
The Android SDK includes a variety of tools that help you develop mobile
applications for the Android platform. The tools are classified into 3 groups:
SDK Tools, Platform-tools and Build-tools.
SDK Tools are platform independent and are required no matter which Android
platform you are developing on. It is the base toolset of Android SDK.
This metapackage pulls the entire Android SDK.
There are three methods to install android-sdk
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install android-sdk Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install android-sdk
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install android-sdk
Install android-sdk Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install android-sdk
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install android-sdk
Install android-sdk Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install android-sdk
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install android-sdk
How To Uninstall android-sdk on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the android-sdk
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove android-sdk
Uninstall android-sdk And Its Dependencies
To uninstall android-sdk
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove android-sdk
Remove android-sdk Configurations and Data
To remove android-sdk
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge android-sdk
Remove android-sdk configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove android-sdk
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge android-sdk
