In this tutorial we learn how to install chromium-headless on CentOS 8.

What is chromium-headless

A minimal headless client built from Chromium. headless_shell is built without support for alsa, cups, dbus, gconf, gio, kerberos, pulseaudio, or udev.

We can use yum or dnf to install chromium-headless on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install chromium-headless.

Install chromium-headless on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install chromium-headless using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install chromium-headless

Install chromium-headless on CentOS 8 Using yum

After updating yum database, We can install chromium-headless using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install chromium-headless

How To Uninstall chromium-headless on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the chromium-headless package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove chromium-headless

/usr/lib/.build-id
/usr/lib/.build-id/92/3f5c5773148cb480c0b40a1b45db1c48c09b00
/usr/lib64/chromium-browser/headless_shell
