In this tutorial we learn how to install amiri-fonts-common
on CentOS 8.
What is amiri-fonts-common
Amiri is a classical Arabic typeface in Naskh style for typesetting books and other running text. Amiri is a revival of the beautiful typeface pioneered in early 20th century by Bulaq Press in Cairo, also known as Amiria Press, after which the font is named. This package consists of files used by other amiri-fonts packages.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install amiri-fonts-common
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install amiri-fonts-common.
Install amiri-fonts-common on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install amiri-fonts-common
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install amiri-fonts-common
Install amiri-fonts-common on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.

How To Uninstall amiri-fonts-common on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the amiri-fonts-common
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove amiri-fonts-common
