Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install apper
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is apper
apper is:
PackageKit allows performing simple software management tasks over a DBus
interface e.g. refreshing the cache, updating, installing and removing
software packages or searching for multimedia codecs and file handlers.
This package provides a KDE package manager based on PackageKit,
as well as package management support for the KDE desktop.
It implements the PackageKit session API for KDE, which allows
applications to easily install additional software (e.g. extensions),
uninstall files and perform simple software status queries.
There are three methods to install apper
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install apper Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install apper
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install apper
Install apper Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install apper
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install apper
Install apper Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install apper
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install apper
How To Uninstall apper on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the apper
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove apper
Uninstall apper And Its Dependencies
To uninstall apper
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove apper
Remove apper Configurations and Data
To remove apper
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge apper
Remove apper configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove apper
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge apper
