What is asymptote-x11
asymptote-x11 is:
Asymptote is a powerful script-based vector graphics language for technical
drawings, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like syntax.
Asymptote provides for figures the same high-quality level of typesetting that
LaTeX does for scientific text.
In the event that adjustments to the final figure are required, the
preliminary Graphical User Interface (GUI) xasy included with Asymptote allows
you to move graphical objects and draw new ones. The modified figure can then
be saved as a normal Asymptote file.
There are three methods to install asymptote-x11 on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install asymptote-x11 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install asymptote-x11 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install asymptote-x11
Install asymptote-x11 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install asymptote-x11 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install asymptote-x11
Install asymptote-x11 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install asymptote-x11 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install asymptote-x11
How To Uninstall asymptote-x11 on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the asymptote-x11 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove asymptote-x11
Uninstall asymptote-x11 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall asymptote-x11 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove asymptote-x11
Remove asymptote-x11 Configurations and Data
To remove asymptote-x11 configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge asymptote-x11
Remove asymptote-x11 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove asymptote-x11 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge asymptote-x11
