on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is bind9-dev
bind9-dev is:
The Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND 9) implements an Internet domain
name server. BIND 9 is the most widely-used name server software on the
Internet, and is supported by the Internet Software Consortium, www.isc.org.
This package contains a bundle of static libraries and header files used by
BIND 9.
Please be aware that the BIND 9 libraries are considered private by upstream
developers and the API and ABI might break at any time.
There are three methods to install bind9-dev
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bind9-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bind9-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bind9-dev
Install bind9-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bind9-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bind9-dev
Install bind9-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bind9-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bind9-dev
How To Uninstall bind9-dev on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the bind9-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bind9-dev
Uninstall bind9-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bind9-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bind9-dev
Remove bind9-dev Configurations and Data
To remove bind9-dev
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bind9-dev
Remove bind9-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bind9-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bind9-dev
