What is bpytop
bpytop is:
Resource monitor that shows usage and stats for processor,
memory, disks, network and processes. bpytop includes:
- Easy to use, with a game inspired menu system.
- Full mouse support, all buttons with a highlighted key is clickable
and mouse scroll works in process list and menu boxes. - Fast and responsive UI with UP, DOWN keys process selection.
- Function for showing detailed stats for selected process.
- Ability to filter processes, multiple filters can be entered.
- Easy switching between sorting options.
- Send SIGTERM, SIGKILL, SIGINT to selected process.
- UI menu for changing all config file options.
- Auto scaling graph for network usage.
- Shows current read and write speeds for disks

There are three methods to install bpytop
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bpytop Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bpytop
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bpytop
Install bpytop Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bpytop
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bpytop
Install bpytop Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bpytop
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bpytop
How To Uninstall bpytop on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the bpytop
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bpytop
Uninstall bpytop And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bpytop
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bpytop
Remove bpytop Configurations and Data
To remove bpytop
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bpytop
Remove bpytop configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bpytop
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bpytop
