In this tutorial we learn how to install caja-sendto on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is caja-sendto
caja-sendto is:
Caja is the official file manager for the MATE desktop. This
package adds extended functionality to the Caja file manager.
The Caja Send To extension provides the Caja file manager with a context
menu component for quickly sending files to given email addresses, contacts
on a Pidgin or Gajim instant messaging list, through Thunderbird/Icedove,
or through Claws Mail.
Caja Send To also provides the option of compressing the files (tar.bz2,
tar.gz, or zip) before sending.
There are three methods to install caja-sendto on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install caja-sendto Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install caja-sendto using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install caja-sendto
Install caja-sendto Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install caja-sendto using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install caja-sendto
Install caja-sendto Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install caja-sendto using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install caja-sendto
How To Uninstall caja-sendto on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the caja-sendto package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove caja-sendto
Uninstall caja-sendto And Its Dependencies
To uninstall caja-sendto and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove caja-sendto
Remove caja-sendto Configurations and Data
To remove caja-sendto configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge caja-sendto
Remove caja-sendto configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove caja-sendto configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge caja-sendto
