What is libgxps2

libgxps2 is:

OpenXPS or XPS stands for XML Paper Specification. It is based on XML and it’s
a new electronic paper format originally developed by Microsoft and it serves
as a PDF alternative. XPS files are usually created using “Microsoft XPS
Document Writer” in Windows environments. It is now standardized as an open
standard document format.

Quoting Wikipedia:
An XPS file is in fact a Unicoded ZIP archive using the Open Packaging
Conventions, containing the files which make up the document. These include an
XML markup file for each page, text, embedded fonts, raster images, 2D vector
graphics, as well as the digital rights management information. The contents
of an XPS file can be examined simply by opening it in an application which
supports ZIP files.

The OpenXPS document format specification supports features such as color
gradients, transparencies, CMYK color spaces, printer calibration,
multiple-ink systems and print schemas.

This package contains the library. It is being used by evince to read XPS
documents.

There are three methods to install libgxps2 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libgxps2 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libgxps2 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libgxps2 using apt by running the following command:

Install libgxps2 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libgxps2 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libgxps2

How To Uninstall libgxps2 on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the libgxps2 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libgxps2

Uninstall libgxps2 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libgxps2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgxps2

Remove libgxps2 Configurations and Data

To remove libgxps2 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libgxps2

Remove libgxps2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libgxps2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libgxps2
