Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install bosh
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is bosh
bosh is:
bosh stands for browsable output shell. This is a bit of a
misnomer because it isn’t really a shell. What is does is
store the output of a specified program in a buffer, and
provides a simple curses interface to browse this buffer.
Actions can be configured which can make use of the
contents of the currently selected line.
Commands and actions are stored in bosh configuration files.
These can include shebang line (#!/usr/bin/bosh) so that the
configuration can just be run from the command-line.
There are three methods to install bosh
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bosh Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bosh
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bosh
Install bosh Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bosh
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bosh
Install bosh Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bosh
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bosh
How To Uninstall bosh on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the bosh
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bosh
Uninstall bosh And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bosh
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bosh
Remove bosh Configurations and Data
To remove bosh
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bosh
Remove bosh configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bosh
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bosh
