on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is catimg
catimg is:
catimg is a little program written in C with no dependencies that
prints images in terminal. It supports JPEG, PNG, ICO and GIF formats.
You will need a 256 color terminal in order to use this program. For
higher resolution images, you need unicode support.
There are three methods to install catimg
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install catimg Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install catimg
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install catimg

Update apt database with apt

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install catimg
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install catimg
Install catimg Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install catimg
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install catimg
How To Uninstall catimg on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the catimg
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove catimg
Uninstall catimg And Its Dependencies
To uninstall catimg
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove catimg
Remove catimg Configurations and Data
To remove catimg
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge catimg
Remove catimg configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
