Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install fusioninventory-agent
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is fusioninventory-agent
fusioninventory-agent is:
FusionInventory Agent is an application designed to help a network
or system administrator to keep track of the hardware and software
configurations of devices.
This agent can collect information about from:
- the local machine (Inventory)
- the network using SNMP
- an VMware ESX or vCenter server
The agent can be driven from different asset management software
including GLPI, Rudder, Uranos, OCSInventory.
The agent can also be used to install new software and configuration
changes.
There are three methods to install fusioninventory-agent
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fusioninventory-agent Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install fusioninventory-agent
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install fusioninventory-agent
Install fusioninventory-agent Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install fusioninventory-agent
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install fusioninventory-agent
Install fusioninventory-agent Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fusioninventory-agent
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fusioninventory-agent
How To Uninstall fusioninventory-agent on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the fusioninventory-agent
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fusioninventory-agent
Uninstall fusioninventory-agent And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fusioninventory-agent
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fusioninventory-agent
Remove fusioninventory-agent Configurations and Data
To remove fusioninventory-agent
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fusioninventory-agent
Remove fusioninventory-agent configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove fusioninventory-agent
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fusioninventory-agent
