Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gwyddion-common
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is gwyddion-common
gwyddion-common is:
Gwyddion is a modular program for Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) data
visualization and analysis. It is primarily intended for analysis of height
field data obtained by microscopy techniques like
- Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM),
- Magnetic Force Microscopy (MFM),
- Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM),
- Near-field Scanning Optical Microscopy (SNOM or NSOM)
and others. However, it can be used for arbitrary height field and
image analysis.
This package contains architecture-independent files for Gwyddion – a modular
program for Scanning Probe Microscopy data visualization and analysis.
There are three methods to install gwyddion-common
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gwyddion-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gwyddion-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gwyddion-common
Install gwyddion-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gwyddion-common
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gwyddion-common
Install gwyddion-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gwyddion-common
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gwyddion-common
How To Uninstall gwyddion-common on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the gwyddion-common
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gwyddion-common
Uninstall gwyddion-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gwyddion-common
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gwyddion-common
Remove gwyddion-common Configurations and Data
To remove gwyddion-common
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gwyddion-common
Remove gwyddion-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gwyddion-common
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gwyddion-common
