on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is icdiff
icdiff is:
By highlighting changes, icdiff can show you the differences between similar
files without getting in the way. This is especially helpful for identifying
and understanding small changes within existing lines.
Instead of trying to be a diff replacement for all circumstances, the goal
of icdiff is to be a tool you can reach for to get a better picture of what
changed when it’s not immediately obvious from diff.
There are three methods to install icdiff
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install icdiff Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install icdiff
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install icdiff
Install icdiff Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install icdiff
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install icdiff
Install icdiff Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install icdiff
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install icdiff
How To Uninstall icdiff on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the icdiff
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove icdiff
Uninstall icdiff And Its Dependencies
To uninstall icdiff
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove icdiff
Remove icdiff Configurations and Data
To remove icdiff
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge icdiff
Remove icdiff configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove icdiff
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge icdiff
