In this tutorial we learn how to install libderby-java
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libderby-java
libderby-java is:
Apache Derby is an open source relational database implemented entirely
in Java.
- Derby has a small footprint – about 2.6 megabytes for the base engine and
embedded JDBC driver. - Derby is based on the Java, JDBC, and SQL standards.
- Derby provides an embedded JDBC driver that lets you embed Derby in any
Java-based solution. - Derby also supports the more familiar client/server mode with the Derby
Network Client JDBC driver and Derby Network Server. - Derby is easy to install, deploy, and use.
This package includes the database server, the embedded JDBC driver and
localisations.
There are three methods to install libderby-java
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libderby-java Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libderby-java
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libderby-java
Install libderby-java Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libderby-java
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libderby-java
Install libderby-java Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libderby-java
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libderby-java
How To Uninstall libderby-java on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libderby-java
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libderby-java
Uninstall libderby-java And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libderby-java
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libderby-java
Remove libderby-java Configurations and Data
To remove libderby-java
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libderby-java
Remove libderby-java configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libderby-java
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libderby-java
