In this tutorial we learn how to install libdiscid0
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libdiscid0
libdiscid0 is:
libdiscid is a library for creating MusicBrainz DiscIDs from audio CDs.
It reads a CD’s table of contents (TOC) and generates an identifier which
can be used to lookup the CD at MusicBrainz (http://musicbrainz.org).
Additionally, it provides a submission URL for adding the DiscID to the
database.
There are three methods to install libdiscid0
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libdiscid0 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libdiscid0
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libdiscid0
Install libdiscid0 Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libdiscid0
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libdiscid0
Install libdiscid0 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libdiscid0
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libdiscid0
How To Uninstall libdiscid0 on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libdiscid0
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libdiscid0
Uninstall libdiscid0 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libdiscid0
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libdiscid0
Remove libdiscid0 Configurations and Data
To remove libdiscid0
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libdiscid0
Remove libdiscid0 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libdiscid0
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libdiscid0
