on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is elpa-iedit
elpa-iedit is:
This package is an Emacs minor mode and allows you to edit one occurrence of
some text in a buffer (possibly narrowed) or region, and simultaneously have
other occurrences edited in the same way.
You can also use Iedit mode as a quick way to temporarily show only the
buffer lines that match the current text being edited. This gives you the
effect of a temporary keep-lines' or
occur’. To get this effect, hit C-‘
when in Iedit mode – it toggles hiding non-matching lines.
There are three methods to install elpa-iedit
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install elpa-iedit Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-iedit
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install elpa-iedit
Install elpa-iedit Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-iedit
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install elpa-iedit
Install elpa-iedit Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install elpa-iedit
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install elpa-iedit
How To Uninstall elpa-iedit on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the elpa-iedit
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove elpa-iedit
Uninstall elpa-iedit And Its Dependencies
To uninstall elpa-iedit
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove elpa-iedit
Remove elpa-iedit Configurations and Data
To remove elpa-iedit
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge elpa-iedit
Remove elpa-iedit configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove elpa-iedit
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge elpa-iedit
