on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is emboss
emboss is:
EMBOSS is a free Open Source software analysis package specially developed for
the needs of the molecular biology (e.g. EMBnet) user community. The software
automatically copes with data in a variety of formats and even allows
transparent retrieval of sequence data from the web. Also, as extensive
libraries are provided with the package, it is a platform to allow other
scientists to develop and release software in true open source spirit. EMBOSS
also integrates a range of currently available packages and tools for sequence
analysis into a seamless whole. EMBOSS breaks the historical trend towards
commercial software packages.
There are three methods to install emboss
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install emboss Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install emboss
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install emboss
Install emboss Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install emboss
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install emboss
Install emboss Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install emboss
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install emboss
How To Uninstall emboss on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the emboss
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove emboss
Uninstall emboss And Its Dependencies
To uninstall emboss
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove emboss
Remove emboss Configurations and Data
To remove emboss
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge emboss
Remove emboss configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove emboss
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge emboss
