on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is evdi-dkms
evdi-dkms is:
The Extensible Virtual Display Interface (EVDI) is a Linux kernel
module that enables management of multiple screens, allowing user-space
programs to take control over what happens with the image. It is
essentially a virtual display you can add, remove and receive
screen updates for, in an application that uses the libevdi library.
The module and library is part of the DisplayLink Ubuntu development
which enables support for DisplayLink USB 3.0 devices on Ubuntu.
Please note that this is NOT a complete driver for DisplayLink devices.
This package installs the kernel module needed for creating the virtual
displays.
There are three methods to install evdi-dkms
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install evdi-dkms Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install evdi-dkms
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install evdi-dkms
Install evdi-dkms Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install evdi-dkms
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install evdi-dkms
Install evdi-dkms Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install evdi-dkms
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install evdi-dkms
How To Uninstall evdi-dkms on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the evdi-dkms
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove evdi-dkms
Uninstall evdi-dkms And Its Dependencies
To uninstall evdi-dkms
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove evdi-dkms
Remove evdi-dkms Configurations and Data
To remove evdi-dkms
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge evdi-dkms
Remove evdi-dkms configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove evdi-dkms
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge evdi-dkms
