In this tutorial we learn how to install alsaplayer-common on Kali Linux.
What is alsaplayer-common
alsaplayer-common is:
Alsaplayer is a PCM player designed specifically for use with ALSA, but
works great with OSS or EsounD. It’s heavily threaded which cuts down on
skipping, offers optional and even simultaneous visual scopes, plays
mp3, mp2, ogg, cdda, audiofs, and lots more.

This package contains the main alsaplayer program, and needs one interface
plugin and one output plugin. By default, GTK+ interface and alsa output will
be installed.
There are three methods to install alsaplayer-common on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install alsaplayer-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install alsaplayer-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install alsaplayer-commonInstall alsaplayer-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install alsaplayer-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install alsaplayer-commonInstall alsaplayer-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install alsaplayer-common using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install alsaplayer-common
How To Uninstall alsaplayer-common on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the alsaplayer-common package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove alsaplayer-common
Uninstall alsaplayer-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall alsaplayer-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove alsaplayer-common
Remove alsaplayer-common Configurations and Data
To remove alsaplayer-common configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge alsaplayer-common
Remove alsaplayer-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove alsaplayer-common configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge alsaplayer-common
