Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install atari800
on Kali Linux.
What is atari800
atari800 is:
Atari800 is an emulator of Atari 8-bit computer systems including the 400, 800,
1200XL, 600XL, 800XL, 65XE, 130XE, 800XE and the XE Game System,
and also of the Atari 5200 SuperSystem console.
The Atari Operating System ROMs are not available with this package, due to
copyright. You’ll have to either make copies of them from an old Atari
computer, or see README.Debian for other ways to obtain them.
There are three methods to install atari800
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install atari800 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install atari800
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install atari800

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install atari800
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install atari800
Install atari800 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install atari800
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install atari800
How To Uninstall atari800 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the atari800
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove atari800
Uninstall atari800 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall atari800
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove atari800
Remove atari800 Configurations and Data
To remove atari800
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge atari800
Remove atari800 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove atari800
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge atari800
