Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install dir2ogg on Kali Linux.
What is dir2ogg
dir2ogg is:
dir2ogg converts MP3, M4A, WMA, FLAC, and WAV files to the
open-source OGG format.
It is a Python script that simply binds together the various decoders and
oggenc making it easier for the user to convert his/her music files. It also
supports ID3 tags.
There are three methods to install dir2ogg on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dir2ogg Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dir2ogg using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dir2ogg
Install dir2ogg Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install dir2ogg using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dir2oggInstall dir2ogg Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dir2ogg using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dir2ogg
How To Uninstall dir2ogg on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the dir2ogg package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dir2ogg
Uninstall dir2ogg And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dir2ogg and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dir2ogg
Remove dir2ogg Configurations and Data
To remove dir2ogg configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dir2ogg
Remove dir2ogg configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dir2ogg configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dir2ogg
