Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install geneweb on Kali Linux.
What is geneweb
geneweb is:
Geneweb allows keeping track of ancestral data. It is a powerful
system for maintaining a set of data about your family history. It
supports much of the GEDCOM tag system for data storage, and can be
used either as your primary system for archiving genealogical data,
or as a web service (through a CGI interface) for publishing your
data for others to use.
There are three methods to install geneweb on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install geneweb Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install geneweb using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install genewebInstall geneweb Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install geneweb using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install genewebInstall geneweb Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install geneweb using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install geneweb
How To Uninstall geneweb on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the geneweb package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove geneweb
Uninstall geneweb And Its Dependencies
To uninstall geneweb and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove geneweb
Remove geneweb Configurations and Data
To remove geneweb configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge geneweb
Remove geneweb configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove geneweb configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge geneweb
