Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install fsviewer-icons
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is fsviewer-icons
fsviewer-icons is:
Some nice XPM icons to provide fsviewer with a more NeXT-like look,
although fsviewer does run without them.
These icons are only useful if used with fsviewer, which is a
lightweight standalone (no need for openstep) filemanager
based on the one included with NeXTSTEP. It integrates well
with Window Maker but can be used with any WM.
Features include Browser mode, DND and file operations.
Icon source files are included in TIFF format.
There are three methods to install fsviewer-icons
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fsviewer-icons Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install fsviewer-icons
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install fsviewer-icons
Install fsviewer-icons Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install fsviewer-icons
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install fsviewer-icons
Install fsviewer-icons Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fsviewer-icons
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fsviewer-icons
How To Uninstall fsviewer-icons on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the fsviewer-icons
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fsviewer-icons
Uninstall fsviewer-icons And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fsviewer-icons
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fsviewer-icons
Remove fsviewer-icons Configurations and Data
To remove fsviewer-icons
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fsviewer-icons
Remove fsviewer-icons configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove fsviewer-icons
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fsviewer-icons
