Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install primus-vk
on Kali Linux.
What is primus-vk
primus-vk is:
Typically you want to display an image rendered on a more powerful
GPU on a display managed by an internal GPU. The layer in this package will
direct rendering commands to a dedicated, more powerful GPU an when such an
image is displayed it will be copied to the integrated CPU for displaying.
The user can activate offloading for individual applications by launching
them with the “pvkrun” program.
There are three methods to install primus-vk
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install primus-vk Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install primus-vk
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install primus-vk
Install primus-vk Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install primus-vk
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install primus-vk
Install primus-vk Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install primus-vk
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install primus-vk
How To Uninstall primus-vk on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the primus-vk
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove primus-vk
Uninstall primus-vk And Its Dependencies
To uninstall primus-vk
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove primus-vk
Remove primus-vk Configurations and Data
To remove primus-vk
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge primus-vk
Remove primus-vk configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove primus-vk
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge primus-vk
