In this tutorial we learn how to install puppet-beaker on Kali Linux.

What is puppet-beaker

puppet-beaker is:

Test harness focused on acceptance testing via interactions between
multiple (virtual) machines. It provides platform abstraction between
different Systems Under Test (SUTs), and it can also be used as a
virtual machine provisioner – setting up machines, running any
commands on those machines, and then exiting.

Beaker runs tests written in Ruby, and provides additional
Domain-Specific Language (DSL) methods. This gives you access to all
standard Ruby along with acceptance testing specific commands.

There are three methods to install puppet-beaker on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install puppet-beaker Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install puppet-beaker using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install puppet-beaker

Install puppet-beaker Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install puppet-beaker using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install puppet-beaker

Install puppet-beaker Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install puppet-beaker using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install puppet-beaker

How To Uninstall puppet-beaker on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the puppet-beaker package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove puppet-beaker

Uninstall puppet-beaker And Its Dependencies

To uninstall puppet-beaker and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove puppet-beaker

Remove puppet-beaker Configurations and Data

To remove puppet-beaker configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge puppet-beaker

Remove puppet-beaker configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove puppet-beaker configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge puppet-beaker
