Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install 9mount
on Kali Linux.
What is 9mount
9mount is:
9mount is a set of SUID mounting tools for use with v9fs to help
cope with Linux’s poor mount support.

The tools offer a level of security – 9mount will only let you
mount over non-sticky directories you have write access to, and
9umount will only let you unmount 9p partitions that you mounted
yourself.
There are three methods to install 9mount
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install 9mount Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install 9mount
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install 9mount
Install 9mount Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install 9mount
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install 9mount
Install 9mount Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install 9mount
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install 9mount
How To Uninstall 9mount on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the 9mount
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove 9mount
Uninstall 9mount And Its Dependencies
To uninstall 9mount
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove 9mount
Remove 9mount Configurations and Data
To remove 9mount
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge 9mount
Remove 9mount configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove 9mount
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge 9mount
