What is acpitool
acpitool is:
AcpiTool is a Linux ACPI client. It’s a small command line application,
intended to be a replacement for the apm tool. The primary target audience are
laptop users, since these people are most interested in things like battery
status, thermal status and the ability to suspend (sleep mode). The program
simply accesses the /proc/acpi or /sysfs entries to get or set ACPI values.
It also supports various extensions for Toshiba, Asus, and IBM Thinkpad
laptops.

There are three methods to install acpitool on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install acpitool Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install acpitool using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install acpitoolInstall acpitool Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install acpitool using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install acpitoolInstall acpitool Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install acpitool using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install acpitool
How To Uninstall acpitool on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the acpitool package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove acpitool
Uninstall acpitool And Its Dependencies
To uninstall acpitool and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove acpitool
Remove acpitool Configurations and Data
To remove acpitool configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge acpitool
Remove acpitool configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove acpitool configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge acpitool
