What is adjtimex
adjtimex is:
This package provides a utility to manipulate the kernel time
variables. For a machine connected to the Internet, or equipped with
a precision oscillator or radio clock, the best way to keep the
system clock accurate is using NTP (Network Time Protocol). However,
for a standalone or intermittently connected machine, you may use
adjtimex instead to at least correct for systematic drift. It can
optionally adjust the system clock using the CMOS clock as a
reference, and can log times for long-term estimation of drift rates.
There are three methods to install adjtimex
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get

and aptitude

Install adjtimex Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install adjtimex
using apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install adjtimex

sudo apt -y install adjtimex
Install adjtimex Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install adjtimex
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install adjtimex
How To Uninstall adjtimex on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the adjtimex
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove adjtimex
Uninstall adjtimex And Its Dependencies
To uninstall adjtimex
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove adjtimex
Remove adjtimex Configurations and Data
To remove adjtimex
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge adjtimex
Remove adjtimex configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove adjtimex
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge adjtimex
