Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install aespipe
on Kali Linux.
What is aespipe
aespipe is:
aespipe is an encryption tool that reads from standard input and
writes to standard output. It uses the AES (Rijndael) cipher.

aespipe can be used for non-destructive in-place encryption
of existing disk partitions for use with the loop-AES encrypted
loopback kernel module.
It can also be used as an encryption filter to create and restore
encrypted tar/cpio backup archives and to read/write and convert
loop-AES compatible encrypted images.
Note that aespipe does not store any length information with the
encrypted images, so it cannot be used as general purpose filter
for encryption, but only for certain formats like tar.
There are three methods to install aespipe
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install aespipe Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install aespipe
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install aespipe
Install aespipe Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install aespipe
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install aespipe
Install aespipe Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install aespipe
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install aespipe
How To Uninstall aespipe on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the aespipe
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove aespipe
Uninstall aespipe And Its Dependencies
To uninstall aespipe
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove aespipe
Remove aespipe Configurations and Data
To remove aespipe
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge aespipe
Remove aespipe configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove aespipe
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge aespipe
