Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install aewm++-goodies on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is aewm++-goodies
aewm++-goodies is:
These utilities were previously supplied with aewm++; they are intended
to provide some of the typical desktop functionality that aewm++ itself
does not include. This package provides:
- aewm++_appbar: a small application launcher
- aewm++_fspanel: a very small panel
- aewm++_setrootimage: draws a gradient on the X root window
- aewm++_xsession: keeps an X session alive
Note that some of these were named differently in previous releases.
There are three methods to install aewm++-goodies on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install aewm++-goodies Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install aewm++-goodies using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install aewm++-goodies
Install aewm++-goodies Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install aewm++-goodies using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install aewm++-goodies
Install aewm++-goodies Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install aewm++-goodies using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install aewm++-goodies
How To Uninstall aewm++-goodies on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the aewm++-goodies package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove aewm++-goodies
Uninstall aewm++-goodies And Its Dependencies
To uninstall aewm++-goodies and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove aewm++-goodies
Remove aewm++-goodies Configurations and Data
To remove aewm++-goodies configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge aewm++-goodies
Remove aewm++-goodies configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove aewm++-goodies configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge aewm++-goodies
