Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install alsa-tools-gui on Kali Linux.
What is alsa-tools-gui
alsa-tools-gui is:
A collection of GUI based ALSA utilities for specific sound hardware:
echomixer – control tool for Echoaudio soundcards
envy24control – control tool for Envy24 (ice1712) based soundcards
hdajackretask – retask jacks on HDA Intel hardware
hdspconf – GUI program to control the Hammerfall HDSP Alsa Settings.
hdspmixer – tool to control the advanced routing features of the
RME Hammerfall DSP.
rmedigicontrol – control tool for RME Digi32 and RME Digi96 soundcards
There are three methods to install alsa-tools-gui on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install alsa-tools-gui Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install alsa-tools-gui using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install alsa-tools-guiInstall alsa-tools-gui Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install alsa-tools-gui using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install alsa-tools-guiInstall alsa-tools-gui Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install alsa-tools-gui using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install alsa-tools-gui
How To Uninstall alsa-tools-gui on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the alsa-tools-gui package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove alsa-tools-gui
Uninstall alsa-tools-gui And Its Dependencies
To uninstall alsa-tools-gui and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove alsa-tools-gui
Remove alsa-tools-gui Configurations and Data
To remove alsa-tools-gui configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge alsa-tools-gui
Remove alsa-tools-gui configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove alsa-tools-gui configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge alsa-tools-gui
