What is apt-show-source
apt-show-source is:
This program parses the APT lists for source packages and the
dpkg status file and then lists every package with a different
version number than the one installed.
It’s very useful if your deb-src sources.list entries point to
unstable and your deb entries point to stable.
There are three methods to install apt-show-source on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install apt-show-source Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install apt-show-source using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install apt-show-sourceInstall apt-show-source Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install apt-show-source using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install apt-show-sourceInstall apt-show-source Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install apt-show-source using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install apt-show-source
How To Uninstall apt-show-source on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the apt-show-source package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove apt-show-source
Uninstall apt-show-source And Its Dependencies
To uninstall apt-show-source and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove apt-show-source
Remove apt-show-source Configurations and Data
To remove apt-show-source configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge apt-show-source
Remove apt-show-source configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove apt-show-source configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
