Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install aptly-publisher
on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is aptly-publisher
aptly-publisher is:
This tool allows one to create aptly multi-component
publishes from YAML definition of repositories and mirrors
Features:
- create or update publish from latest snapshots
- it takes configuration in yaml format which defines what to publish and
how - expected snapshot format is
<name>-<timestamp>
- it takes configuration in yaml format which defines what to publish and
- promote publish
- use source publish snapshots to create or update another publish (eg.
testing -> stable)
- use source publish snapshots to create or update another publish (eg.
- cleanup unused snapshots
There are three methods to install aptly-publisher
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install aptly-publisher Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install aptly-publisher
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install aptly-publisher
Install aptly-publisher Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install aptly-publisher
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install aptly-publisher
Install aptly-publisher Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install aptly-publisher
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install aptly-publisher
How To Uninstall aptly-publisher on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the aptly-publisher
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove aptly-publisher
Uninstall aptly-publisher And Its Dependencies
To uninstall aptly-publisher
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove aptly-publisher
Remove aptly-publisher Configurations and Data
To remove aptly-publisher
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge aptly-publisher
Remove aptly-publisher configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove aptly-publisher
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge aptly-publisher
