What is arctica-greeter-remote-logon
arctica-greeter-remote-logon is:
A greeter shell for the LightDM login manager. Arctica Greeter can be used as
local display manager as well as thin client login manager.
This package adds remote logon support to Arctica Greeter. Remote
sessions supported by Arctica Greeter are:
- Arctica Remote Desktop Sessions
- X2Go Desktop Sessions
- Windows RDP sessions (FreeRDP)
- Citrix Remote Desktop Sessions
There are three methods to install arctica-greeter-remote-logon on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install arctica-greeter-remote-logon Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install arctica-greeter-remote-logon using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install arctica-greeter-remote-logon
Install arctica-greeter-remote-logon Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install arctica-greeter-remote-logon using apt by running the following command:

Install arctica-greeter-remote-logon Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install arctica-greeter-remote-logon using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install arctica-greeter-remote-logon
How To Uninstall arctica-greeter-remote-logon on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the arctica-greeter-remote-logon package we can use the following command:

To uninstall arctica-greeter-remote-logon and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove arctica-greeter-remote-logon
Remove arctica-greeter-remote-logon Configurations and Data
To remove arctica-greeter-remote-logon configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge arctica-greeter-remote-logon
Remove arctica-greeter-remote-logon configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove arctica-greeter-remote-logon configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge arctica-greeter-remote-logon
