In this tutorial we learn how to install asterisk-voicemail on Kali Linux.
What is asterisk-voicemail
asterisk-voicemail is:
Asterisk is an Open Source PBX and telephony toolkit.
This package includes the standard files-based voicemail storage. This
is normally the one you use and is the one that will Just Work. The only
reason not to install it is if you want to use a different Asterisk
voicemail storage (ODBC or IMAP).

package.
There are three methods to install asterisk-voicemail on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install asterisk-voicemail Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install asterisk-voicemail using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install asterisk-voicemailInstall asterisk-voicemail Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install asterisk-voicemail using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install asterisk-voicemailInstall asterisk-voicemail Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install asterisk-voicemail using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install asterisk-voicemailHow To Uninstall asterisk-voicemail on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the asterisk-voicemail package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove asterisk-voicemailUninstall asterisk-voicemail And Its Dependencies
To uninstall asterisk-voicemail and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove asterisk-voicemailRemove asterisk-voicemail Configurations and Data
To remove asterisk-voicemail configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge asterisk-voicemailRemove asterisk-voicemail configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove asterisk-voicemail configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge asterisk-voicemailDependencies
