Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install atheme-services-contrib on Kali Linux.
What is atheme-services-contrib
atheme-services-contrib is:
atheme-services is a portable, secure set of open source, modular IRC
services, designed to run on many IRC server implementations.
Unlike alternative packages, atheme-services’ core is minimalistic,
providing only core functionality. atheme-services is a complete services
set, excluding features designed for oper abuse.
This package contains the contrib modules, which may be either silly or
undesired in a standard install.
There are three methods to install atheme-services-contrib on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install atheme-services-contrib Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install atheme-services-contrib using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install atheme-services-contribInstall atheme-services-contrib Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install atheme-services-contrib using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install atheme-services-contribInstall atheme-services-contrib Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install atheme-services-contrib using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install atheme-services-contrib
How To Uninstall atheme-services-contrib on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the atheme-services-contrib package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove atheme-services-contrib
Uninstall atheme-services-contrib And Its Dependencies
To uninstall atheme-services-contrib and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove atheme-services-contrib
Remove atheme-services-contrib Configurations and Data
To remove atheme-services-contrib configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge atheme-services-contrib
Remove atheme-services-contrib configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove atheme-services-contrib configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge atheme-services-contrib
